Moments of true, complete happiness, according to Arthur Shappey:
- when you get into a bath quickly and it’s just the right temperature, and you go “ooooh”
- when you realise your knuckles are ready for cracking
- tossing an apple from hand to hand
because they’re the sort of things that “happen all the time, whereas you’re hardly ever, you know, blissfully happy with the love of your life in the moonlight, and when you are, you’re too busy worrying about it being over soon” (Cabin Pressure, Fitton)
Oh Arthur, you sure do manage to find constant joy and excitement in the littlest things, and I must agree with the apple one. Strangely satisfying indeed.

Martin Crieff, Cosplay Refs And Help!
SUIT: Two ways you can do this. You buy a suit. No wait, three ways. Either buy a dark blue or black suit, double breasted. Or buy a pilots costume. But they usually come in one size fits all which turns out to be a tall guy with big shoulders. Or buy seperate pants and jacket/blazer. This way both will fit you and if you get them from an op shop, will probably be cheaper.
Dont worry if you can’t get any double breasted. You can always just sew on the buttons. Round gold ones, six of them.
Around the cuffs sew gold or yellow (your choice, both look nice) ribbon around. Or fabric glue them. Your choice again. He appeares to have either gold bar cufflinks or some other sort of brooch, above the cuffs.
Top it off with the MJN Badge. It used to be sold, but the etsy no longer appears when I search for it. I have seen people make them out of paper, card, shrinkies etc. So it’s up to you! You could just get a winged brooch and use that instead.
SHIRT: Light blue or white. Any should be fine. But if you want to cosplay him with out the blazer, perhaps pilot ones? They have little shoulder dohickies.
You can buy the shirts at various stores but here’s an ebay link: (x).
TIE: Blue, dots/or tiny squares. Any will be fine. Try ebay. There are tons there.
HAT: Any will be fine but regular pilot costume hats are usually navy and black. I reccomend getting a sailor/navy captain costume hat and sticking a pilots patch over the top.
Or get a blank one here: (x). You might want to add more gold braid. Doesn’t look like enough :P.
Wigs: A short gingery, red or dark orange should be fine. Curly is optional. Perhaps a Benny from Arda in Pumpkin or Dark Copper Red.
EXTRAS: Black shoes. Watch. Arthur. Do the pointy thing.
PROPS: Lemon. Polar Bear Toy. Lamb toy. Toy aeroplane or book on planes. This mug (x).
As there isn’t much in the way of offical images. Other than we know Martin probably looks like a short Benedict. I have included a few Martin cosplays.
1. Isaisanisa. Awesome cosplay~
2. Shocktrill. Doesn’t matter the choice of suit colour see? Both work!
3. IndyHaine as adorably curly haired Martin.
4. TheCumberCollective. (sorry Arthur, I had to cut you out D:)
5. Had to include the first one I ever saw! By Strongwiththefail, but no longer has a tumblr? D:
(EEEE I didn’t know you’d cosplayed him!)
So there you go! I hoped that helped somewhat?
